Heralded by Opera News for their “lush” voice, Melina Jaharis is a Greek-American with a “rich, dark, resonant” mezzo soprano.
In 2026-2027, they will make their role debut as La Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica with Teatro Grattacielo and will be performing in a solo recital in Vienna in the Jacquinsaal. They will also join Zombie Opera for their SE7EN concert with works by Bizet, Wagner and Bellini. In the spring, they will make their Carnegie Hall debut as the alto soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony.
Previous highlights include performances and covers of Santuzza, Amneris, Ortrud, Azucena, La madre di Butterfly Sarasota Opera, Contessa di Ceprano / Maddalena cover Wolf Trap Opera and the Page in Salome Heartbeat Opera.
Equally comfortable speaking German and English, they studied in Vienna, Austria at the Konservatorium Prayner in the year before their graduate studies. Melina is a Greek citizen and represented by Kathy Olsen at Encompass Arts in the US/Canada and Pierre Ribémont at Zelaya Artists outside of North America. They are based in New York, Berlin and Vienna.
